(l to r: Jessica Blank (SFW '08), President Barack Obama) |
After almost 4 years in office with virtually no press coverage, President of the United States Barack Obama (see photo; Mr. Obama is on the right) finally got the exposure he was desperately seeking by sharing a stage with well-known Sha'alvim alumnus, Jessica Blank (SFW '08).
Though a virtually unknown politician and slightly uncomfortable speaking in public, Mr. Obama had the chance of a lifetime to share a stage with Jessica Blank, president of Barnard's student government. Both Miss Blank and Mr. Obama delivered commencement addresses at Barnard College's commencement exercises. Both before and after the speeches, the President got a chance to speak with Jessica where it became clear that the President made quite an impression on her. She commented that he showed promise and offered to help him with his career in the future.
We have also learned that, although not reported in any news outlet, Mr. Obama congratulated the Sha'alvim for Women alumnus and said, "What a zechut to meet Jessica! I can only hope that Malia and Sasha get the chance to go to SFW too!"
All kidding aside, we are so proud of Jessica! Kol hakavod for the honor and for the opportunity for a wonderful kiddush Hashem!
