Rabbi Moshe Benovitz at SFW

We were privileged to welcome Rav Moshe Benovitz on Tuesday to deliver a guest shiur. Rav Benovitz discussed the seemingly contradictory aspects of Avraham Avinu's eternal contributions to Klal Yisrael. On the one hand, Avraham is the consummate theologian who discovered and developed the monumental notion of monotheism. On the other hand, Avraham was the ultimate "people-person" who embodied and perfected the art of Chessed. Through careful analysis and clear arguments, Rav Benovitz discussed how those two seemingly disparate ideas are really one and the same.

We are grateful to Rav Benovitz for giving of his time to share words of Torah and inspiration.

Rav Benovitz is a Rebbe and Director of Admissions at Yeshivat Reishit Yerushalayim in Beit Shemesh.

Rav Yammer at SFW

This past Tuesday, we had the zechut to welcome Rav Yammer back to Sha'alvim for Women. Rav Yammer is no stranger to SFW: he was instrumental in founding our school in 2004 and has been a teacher here since then. He is taking this semester off from teaching at SFW. Nonetheless he is more than involved with our students: for example, he hosts our Shana Bet students in his home every week in a unique and unforgettable "Bayit Cham."

On Tuesday, Rav Yammer delivered the Guest Speaker Shiur to our entire student body and he addressed the issue of Simcha, as expressed in Sukkot (z'man simchateinu) and our obligation to bring that simcha in Cheshvan.

We look forward to seeing Rav Yammer a lot this semester and to welcoming him back to our faculty in the spring, iy"H
