Torah must be learned deeply and profoundly on the highest levels possible. However, even when you find that you have only a few moments, we believe that opportunities - like listening to this S.E.M. Torah - are always available…. if you know where to look!

Azkara for Yair Elmaleh z"l

On Thursday night we had the privilege of hosting an azkara for Yair Elmaleh z"l, Rav Gil Elmaleh's twin brother and Michelle Elmaleh's brother-in-law. Yair passed away suddenly 9 years ago but his legacy of chessed and of giving lives on powerfully.

Rav Gil began the evening talking about his brother and how drawn he was to giving and selflessness.

Afterward, the Rosh HaYeshiva, HaRav Yechezkel Yaakovson, shlit”a gave a sicha in Yair's memory (in Hebrew) about the importance of chessed in our own lives.

We were inspired deeply by the sichot and by the life that Yair Elmaleh z"l led. May his neshama have an aliyah

He subsequently attended Yeshiva University where he graduated summa cum laude with a BA in psychology. Rabbi Charnoff received semikah from Yeshiva University’s RIETS rabbinic program as well as from R. Zalman Nechemia Goldberg of the Rabbinical High Court in Jerusalem. He obtained a Master’s Degree from the Azrieli School of Jewish Education and Administration and is currently in YU’s certificate program in Experiential Jewish Education.
