Rav Hershel Schachter Shlit"a at SFW

Sha’alvim for Women had the great zechut yesterday to host Rav Hershel Schachter shlit"a, Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshiva University. We heard an incredible shiur about the halachic obligations of Kibbud Av V'Eym. With his well-known bekiyut, Rav Schachter taught us profound halachic and hashkafic messages about this most important mitzvah.  

Afterward, our students had the unique opportunity to ask any and all questions in halacha and hashkafa that they had. The questions were wide-ranging and thought-provoking and, with Rav Schachter’s world-renowned memory and breadth of Torah knowledge, we were treated to clear and profound responses.

Dr. Smadar Rosenzweig at SFW

Dr. Smadar Rosenzweig, Judaic studies professor at Stern College for Women, came to SFW to deliver a moving and meaningful guest sicha entitled “Destiny and Initiative in Megillat Esther.” With her tremendous breadth of knowledge of Tanach and of history, she gave a beautiful shiur on the choices that Queen Esther made as they connect with Sefer Bereishit, Sefer Shmuel and Megillat Esther.

Dr. Smadar Rosensweig is a professor of Bible at Stern College for Women at Yeshiva University, as well as a professor of biblical studies at Allegra Franco Sephardic Women’s Teachers College. Previously, she was a professor of Judaic studies and history at Touro College. Dr. Rosensweig received a master’s degree in philosophy and a master’s degree in arts from Columbia University. 

SFW in and around Eilat!

What an outstanding time we had hiking and bonding in and around Eilat!

We learned Torah in and out of the buses as we learned about this beautiful region and the history here! This is an extended part of unique our "Shiurim v'Siyurim" program! And, as you can imagine, fun and bonding were on the agenda as well!!
